Day six saw Tathra’s veteran women’s crew finished equal third, while the veteran men completed the leg in fourth place.
Clarke said the club’s rowers looked forward to completing the marathon on Saturday.
“We are kind of on a high and psyching ourselves to get up tomorrow.
“We will then crash in a heap and have a week of sleep,” she said with a laugh.
Clarke said both crews were “holding up well”, but admitted there had been injury concerns including dislocated shoulders and back complaint.
However Clarke, who is completing her second George Bass marathon, admitted it had been a tough competition.
“There are less teams this year, but there is strong fields in each race,” she said.
“But we are happy at Tathra.”
“Everyone will be looking to finish strong,” Clarke said.
“We have all given everything every day, but there will be a big push tomorrow.”
However, it isn’t all good news for the Tathra crews.
Clarke said she was disappointed that Thursday’s leg was changed, when teams were scheduled to row from Bermagui to Tathra.
Poor weather conditions meant crews progressed from Bermagui to Cuttagee, before heading back to Bermagui via Camel Rock.
“It would have been a good feeling, it always feels good to arrive home – it spurs you on,” Clarke said.
“We were a little bit disappointed.”
