Speedway president Greg Eastman said it would see the first running of the highly anticipated Canberra Legends speedway cars class.
“The legend cars are based on American hot rods. They’re small, fast and provide some of the best side-by-side racing,” Eastman said.
Eastman said the class was growing in popularity across the country.
“They are the fastest growing class of speedway racing, it’s a controlled class that provides a level playing field for all the competitors.”
Eastman said two divisions of the class would be running on the night, the legend class and the development series.
There will also be two cars on display at the Sapphire Marketplace, Bega, today and tomorrow.
Eastman said to coincide with the new class the speedway would play host to its usual array of racing including the V8 super sedans, Aussie sixes, super production and vintage cars.
Eastman said the club had full amenities and the track is family friendly.
“There will be a jumping castle for the kids and full canteen available, so come out to the speedway,” he said.
Entry is $15 for adults and under 14s are free, racing starts at 4pm.
