After several phone calls late Wednesday trying to see if there was any truth to a rumour, it was confirmed via a media alert from Andrew Constance's office.
The ceremony will take place on the grassy section near the northern roundabout - adjacent to Kirkland Crescent - from 11.45am.
The alert also set out the agenda for Thursday's ceremony, including speeches from Roads and Maritime Services representatives, Mr Constance, Member for Eden-Monaro Peter Hendy and Bega Valley Shire Mayor Bill Taylor.
A plaque is also set to be unveiled.
It is unclear why the public was not alerted to such a long-expected event with more notice, but a contact within RMS confirmed it is going ahead.
