Thanks to support from the community and council the club was able to lay new surfaces on the courts and has new lights.
The club enjoyed its spring competition finals night and a celebration of the new court surfaces recently.
Guests were invited from Bega Valley Shire Council who were instrumental and supportive of the new surfaces, the local tennis community and business and tennis team sponsors.
Member Linley Cormack said it was a great night, but rain tried to hinder the celebrations.
“It was a great night only deterred by the rain which bucketed down at times,” Cormack said.
“Which meant the tennis finals were a washout with each team being awarded washout points.”
Cormack said the weather hadn’t dampened anyone’s spirits.
“Everyone enjoyed a hearty barbecue and beautiful food supplied by the club and players.”
Cormack said after the points were tallied the winners came in by a very narrow margin.
“We had two teams vying for supremacy.
“With only a two-point margin the David Leser Building team of John Fitzmaurice, Jane Grose, Anna Charlton, Hans Theile and David Smith were the winners,” she said.
The club thanked all the sponsors for making the competition so successful.
Cormack said she was delighted with the new playing surface and lights and was eager to see the next season start.
“Our new surfaces and lights are a huge success with an increase in player numbers.
“We look forward to our next summer competition due to commence early in February.”
