Overnight a table and a set of accompanying benches were set alight and completely destroyed.
The wall nearby, the exterior of Littleton Café, was spray painted with racist graffiti.
Staff from Bega Valley Shire Council removed the graffiti first thing Wednesday morning, however an outline remained.
Owner of Littleton Café Claire Berry thanked council for removing the graffiti so quickly.
Her son began repainting the wall early Wednesday morning so the outline of the graffiti would no longer be visible.
“What was written was very upsetting, it’s right across from where children play in the fountain and they shouldn’t be exposed to things that like,” she said.
“I’m very relieved council came so early to remove it.”
Littleton Café recently opened a renovation to include an outdoor café and service area facing the new Littleton Garden redevelopment, but it was not damaged during the vandalism overnight.
The incident is believed to have occurred between 2am and 7am Wednesday, and was discovered by a BVSC staffer who contacted local police.
A police spokesperson said evidence discovered at the scene has been taken for fingerprint analysis and forensic examination.
Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or Bega police station 6492 9999.
