Tathra narrowly secured a win with both its teams, the Renegades and the Warriors, over the Merimbula Dolphins and Bega to play out a Tathra v Tathra showdown.
The level of skill and finesse on show from some of the region’s top bowlers across singles, pairs and triples matches was something to behold.
The Merimbula Dolphins had lifted their form to make the semi-finals, but a solid showing from the top-placed Renegades saw them knocked out.
James Reynolds was in charge of his game and Tathra young gun Anthony McKenna was impressive in the doubles.
Merimbula professional Michael Wilks also showed his talent by cleaning up shots like it was on demand.
Meanwhile, all eyes were on the Bega v Tatha doubles action.
After a convincing loss in the triples match-up and a narrow loss by mere points in the singles, Bega was on target to level the scores through a solid pairs effort.
Club champion Howard Blacker and Augie Phillipzen were going shot-for-shot in a marathon effort that saw them on the green 30 minutes after all other rounds had finished.
Going into the last two ends the Bega duo needed five shots to level things up and looked like they had it under control on the second last.
Tathra bowler Bruce Tate had other plans and skillfully knocked the jack from its place to even the odds.
On the final end Blacker picked up a couple of shots, but it was not enough with Bega going down by a very narrow margin.
