TICKETS are selling fast for Tathra Beach Country Club’s Dig Deep for Duncan trivia night on Saturday.
The event is a fundraiser for 19-year-old Duncan Waters, who was diagnosed with testicular and stomach cancer in June.
He has been undergoing treatment for several months and will undergo major surgery on October 29.
Duncan and his family are former Tathra residents and close friends in the town are keen to help with a trivia night.
“We want it to be a positive night and show the family how much love and support they have in town,” Jodi Harris from Tathra Beach Bowling Club said.
“He’s a wonderful kid and we all just want to support him in his fight.
“Duncan and his family are coming to the event, and the Tathra Beach Apartments have donated several nights’ accommodation to them so they can enjoy a break before his surgery.”
Ms Harris said the Men of League will be hosting the trivia night, at a cost of $20 a person.
Local businesses have been generous in their support and donated items for raffles and for an auction.
Sports memorabilia has been sourced by the Men of League Far South Coast branch for auction.
“The Men of League always put on a fantastic night of trivia and tickets are selling fast,” she said.
“However, if you don’t want to try trivia or miss out on a spot, just come along anyway and show your support for Duncan and his family.”
For those who are unable to attend but would like to help, a fundraising account has been set up at the National Australia Bank; account name Dig Deep for Duncan, BSB 082968, account number 827741149.
Tickets for the October 26 trivia night are available from Tathra Beach Country Club or Tathra Beach Bowling Club.
