THE Blue Ruins will release a new single next week.
The Bega band is set to launch Over The Edge on Monday, the culmination of more than a year of hard work.
The Blue Ruins consist of lead singer/guitarist Kate Watts, her dad Alan (electric guitar) and Aidan Bateman (drums).
Over the Edge is the first single off The Blue Ruins’ coming 12-track album, set for release in early 2014.
Over The Edge was written a few years ago by Kate, who said she desperately wanted someone out of her life that just wouldn’t leave.
It has been a long, hard slog for the band on its way to releasing the new single.
The Blue Ruins have been touring around Australia extensively for 15 months, playing show after show in order to save some much-needed cash to make an album.
The band also enlisted the support of its fans to raise the money, through the internationally recognised website Pledge Music.
Within two days, the band had reached 79 per cent of its $8000 goal (BDN, 21/6).
The Blue Ruins have now exceeded their total and have been busy recording at Pirate Studios in Kalaru.
They enlisted the help of producer Tim G Carr, who has worked with amazing artists like Matt Corby, Jay-Z, Kanye West and April Maze.
The band booked into Pirate Studios with engineer David Sparks and hired Kade Brown on keyboard.
Recording, mixing and general horse play for the album took a total of 16 days to complete.
The Blue Ruins are now touring their new single Over The Edge throughout Queensland.
