Around 150 musicians have taken part in the fifth annual South Coast Music Camp in Bega.
More than 120 school-aged children from around the Bega Valley and further afield have taken part in the camp, which is supported by the Bega Chamber Orchestra.
They have been mentored by 25 tutors from Sydney, Hobart, Canberra and the local area.
The week-long camp began on Monday and will conclude with a concert today at the school’s Susan Haris Hall.
Similar to previous years, the camp has been divided into two styles – orchestral and band.
Participants have undertaken various practices each morning, including string, woodwind and brass tutorials.
There has been a broad range of talent on display, from the real beginners through to some of Australia’s professional players.
Each day has culminated in participants joining together in the afternoon for a concert rehearsal.
The Susan Haris Hall was abuzz with excited musicians and tutors when the BDN visited on Wednesday.
There was a flurry of bodies walking everywhere as participants settled into their various sections.
The group then began practising the classic melody of O Fortuna from Carl Off’s Carmina Burana.
South Coast Music Camp director Geoffrey Badger will conduct today’s concert.
Mr Badger took time out from conducting on Wednesday to tell the BDN the camp had been a big success.
“It’s been wild, huge – it’s really amazing,” he said.
“On day three, you can already see a huge difference from day one.”
Mr Badger said it was great to see so many different musicians “all working together”.
The 2013 camp will conclude with today’s concert at the Susan Haris Hall, Mumbulla School, at 2.30pm.
