GET ready to dance to fiery flamenco, blazing guitars and indulge in a Spanish feast of tapas, steaming seafood paella and sangria, because the theme for this year’s Mumbulla Foundation Gala Charity Dinner is A Carmen Fiesta!
There are just a few weeks to go until A Carmen Fiesta, which will take place on October 18 at 6.30pm at the Oaklands Event Centre in Pambula.
Prepare for swirling skirts, stamping feet and a night of passion because all Carmen Fiesta guests will have the opportunity to learn flamenco at this year's dinner.
Formidable local dance teacher and professional dancer Veronica Valderrama will be teaching flamenco to all guests (male and female) at the beginning of the night.
Ms Valderrama is currently in Spain perfecting the art of flamenco so expect a hands-on, authentic experience of this exhilarating dance form.
At this year’s dinner, dance until late to El Bolsillo, who are sure to get you “bailando” (dancing) with their funk and soul grooves.
An offshoot of local band The Pocket, El Bolsillo comprises Robyn Martin on bass and vocals, Pete Wild on keys, Dave Hibbert on guitar, Jay McMahon on drums and Georgi Hargraves on woodwind.
Feel free to bring along your own casanova and castanets to add a Spanish flair on the dance floor.
This fantastic evening is all about fundraising for the Bega Valley’s foundation that gives back to the region - the Mumbulla Foundation.
One of the evening’s key fundraising efforts is the live and silent auction with some fabulous once-in-a-lifetime items available for the highest bidder.
Highlights of this year’s auction list include two A Reserve tickets to see Carmen at the Sydney Opera House; a baking masterclass for two with Nelleke Gorton (as seen on Masterchef and River Cottage); a private yacht trip in Bermagui; a weekend in the snow at the Sundeck Hotel and two tickets to the 2014 Four Winds Festival.
The Mumbulla Foundation Gala Charity Dinner is the major annual fundraiser of the foundation and all money raised at the dinner goes to the community.
The dinner’s success has meant the Mumbulla Foundation has been able to increase its community grants substantially from $50,000 in 2010, to $70,000 in 2012 donated to communities and projects in the Bega Valley.
Give where you live and support the Mumbulla Foundation by attending this year’s dinner.
The dinner is proudly supported by principal partner Bega Cheese and major business supporters Fairfax Regional Media, 2EC, Excell Printing, SparQle, Oaklands Event Centre and over 75 businesses in the region.
Sapphire Coast Buslines is also very generously providing a free bus to and from the dinner for guests coming from Bega, Tathra, Merimbula and Pambula regions.
Hurry, tickets will fast sell out for this very special Spanish evening!
Book your tickets online at www.mumbulla.org.au or in person at Booktique Merimbula or Candelo Books in Bega.
