THE Bega Casual Alliance of Lady Motorcyclists (B.CALM) is a new local motorcycle community supporting new and experienced female motorcyclists of the Bega Valley.
The group enjoyed its inaugural ride recently and will continue to meet the third Sunday of every month, meeting 10am at the Candelo Town Hall Cafe.
Long-term plans include quarterly long-distance ride and overnight stays, as well as pleasant evening rides during daylight saving times in addition to the regular monthly ride.
The group also plans to join in with annual women's motorcycling events such as the Australian Celebration of Women's Motorcycling, Bike Chic Adventures’ "Bathurst or Bust" run, and the celebrations around International Female Ride Day on May 2, 2014, which is a globally synchronised day highlighting women motorcycle enthusiasts around the world.
B.CALM’s aim is to provide a supportive and fun environment for female riders while encouraging them to experience all aspects of the motorcycling community.
On B.CALM rides a destination and route is provided, while marshals (leader, tail Charlie and corner markers if necessary) are decided on the day for the sole purpose of giving directions along the route (i.e. avoiding people getting lost).
Rides will generally include stopping for a lunch or coffee break.
B.CALM rides are social events, so interested riders do not need to be concerned that they will not be able to keep up.
All types of bikes are welcome, as are all sorts of riders with any level of experience.
L and P-plate riders are particularly encouraged to attend and enjoy the supportive environment created by the group.
The next ride is scheduled for Sunday.
Riders meet 10am at the Candelo Town Hall Cafe, with engines starting at 10.30am.
If you would like to join or need further information, please contact Frances Tonks on 0438 450 810, email email@example.com or just show up and join in on Sunday.
