THE Far South Coast Football Association has reached the peak of the competition.
Semi-finals kick off this weekend with bigger than Ben Hur clashes to take place on Sunday between the competitions power house teams.
In the first division mens the undefeated Bega Devils will play the second-placed Pambula Penguins at the Wolumla recration ground.
Meanwhile the Merimbula Grasshoppers will take on the Wolumla Tigers at the Penguin Park, Pambula.
Tathra missed out on the first division finals after losing last weekend, which kept the Tigers in contention for the 2013 title.
The Devils have not lost a game in the home and away season and will look to continue their winning streak into the finals.
Despite a powerful Penguins outfit making an appearance, the Devils seem likely to bag this one. I would suggest a 2-1 or 3-2 score line would swing the Devils’ way.
In the second game Merimbula gave a solid performance over Wolumla last weekend and have a good chance of a repeat performance.
It will be a matter of whether or not Wolumla can produce a full-strength team on the day.
If it goes Merimbula’s way you could see a 4-0 blowout.
Meanwhile in the ladies division the nigh unstoppable Eden Killer Whales take on the Wolumla Tigresses.
Eden’s only loss in the season was to Wolumla recently and the Tigresses would love to emulate that game.
The game will ride on the control of the midfield and stopping the strikers.
If Wolumla can shut down Mel Mitchell they have a good shot at a 2-0 repeat performance.
If Eden can way-lay strikers Kirsty Whitby-McBeath and Lee Collimore they could turn the tides and take home their own 2-0 win.
The Pink Devils will play the Penguins at Penguin Park.
The Devils ladies’ outfit has had a strong season and excels in the attack.
However, the Penguins put up a solid defence and I would expect another low-scoring game to come from this.
At a pinch I would tip the Pink Devils in a 2-1 battle.
In the reserve division Bega looks strong and will likely prevail, while Bemboka is likely to overcome Merimbula.
The major grades play from 11.30am onwards at Penguin Park, Pambula and the Wolumla Recreation Ground.
Head along on Sunday to support your team.
