EDEN-MONARO MP Mike Kelly has issued up a firm “no comment” as to whether he will support Julia Gillard or Kevin Rudd in this afternoon's leadership spill.
Australia is facing potentially yet another change in Prime Minister, after Ms Gillard announced an ALP leadership ballot would be held at 4.30pm.
Earlier today Labor minister Simon Crean called on Prime Minister Gillard to spill all leadership positions for the "future of the country".
He indicated he would support Kevin Rudd at the vote.
In a leadership spill in February 2012 Mr Kelly voted for Mr Rudd.
Although Ms Gillard was retained as Prime Minister, Mr Kelly stood by his vote.
“It wasn’t based on self-interest because I knew my wish wasn’t likely to prevail,” he said at the time.
He said his decision to support Mr Rudd was not made easily.
“It was hard because I have enormous respect for both of them.
“All the feedback I got from voters was that there was a strong desire to see Kevin Rudd lead the party.
“I believe we can win in 2013 with Julia Gillard, but that we would have more chance with Kevin Rudd.”
