World's Greatest Shave shears through Bega

BEGA’S Sapphire Marketplace hosted a World’s Greatest Shave event on Thursday.

Retailers, local dignitaries, community groups and the general public were invited to shave, colour or donate to the Leukaemia Foundation to provide practical and emotional support to people with blood cancer, as well as investing millions in research.

The event was hosted by Power FM announcer Chris Miller and the enthusiastic team from Hair Rock Scissors in Pambula, who donated their time to shave and colour hair for eager participants.

Mayor Bill Taylor attended the event, donating to the cause.

Many of the Sapphire Marketplace retailers supported the event including the entire team from Optus colouring their locks.

Plus over 100 members of the community joined in and shaved and coloured their hair.

Sapphire Marketplace raised $1003 on the day for the Leukaemia Foundation.

“It is fantastic to see the people of the Bega Valley and the Sapphire Marketplace retailers and customers supporting such a great cause,” centre Manager Richard Watkins said.

“It was a fun way for the community to get involved.”

Donations can be made by sponsoring Sapphire Marketplace online at my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/sapphire.
