Record enrolments at Bega university

THE University of Wollongong Bega campus has opened for 2013 with a record 82 new students, bringing the total number of students enrolled at Bega this year to over 150.

Orientation began recently for students of the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Nursing and Graduate Diploma in Education (Primary and Secondary).

“From only 40 students in 2000, the centre has grown to offer several programs and have 150 students,” manager of the UOW Bega campus Chris Dwyer said.

“With the rising cost of moving away for university, we’ve become a popular option for both school leavers and mature-aged students alike.

“UOW Bega is also a good option for high school leavers taking a gap year – they can get their feet wet with university study and also take some credits with them if they move on to another course later on.”

The Bega campus has been very successful academically, with local students regularly appearing on the Dean’s Merit list, made up of the top five per cent of students across all years at the University of Wollongong.
