Mr Kelly said he always wanted an office in Bega but when he was first elected the offices were in Queanbeyan and Moruya, the latter site having been selected by his predecessor.
Then that office closed due to budget constraints and for a while he only had the Queanbeyan office.
But the Government’s purse strings have loosened again and in large electorates such as Eden-Monaro, members are entitled to another office.
He said the Bega Valley was very dear to him because of his family connections here that go back generations.
Although just officially opened, the office had been staffed by Jim Bright and Leanne Atkinson for a few weeks, and already quite a number of people have brought in their problems and queries.
The address of the office is 1/225 Carp Street (where there used to be a fish and chip shop), the postal address PO Box 1233, Bega, and the phone number 6492 1692.
Regardless of the outcome of the election, the office is intended to remain open housing whoever is elected.
Liberal candidate Peter Hendy was due to visit Bega this morning with the Shadow Minister for Tourism and Regional Development Bob Baldwin.
They are to attend a business breakfast at the Bega Bowling Club hosted by Liberal Party Bega branch president Carol Carmody, and are then due to meet with Sapphire Coast Tourism chairman Bruce Leaver and members at the Bega Valley Shire Council chambers.
