High-class care
I have just experienced an instance in high-class service and dedication which is worth sharing with you.
On January 10 I was on the bowling green playing an inter-club match against Tura Beach, when I lost all control of my right leg.
Helped off the green, driven home, rang the ambulance.
Here's where the service started.
Within two minutes the ambulance was at the door.
An attractive young paramedic attended, asked all the right questions of a stroke victim with tests for limb use and decided Bega hospital was the next step.
In to the emergency at Bega hospital, from the gurney to the bed, then that very efficient staff took over.
Nurses, doctors buzzing around, vital signs taken and recorded, then a resident neurologist gave a most thorough verbal and practical examination to assess my condition.
Next step was up to a ward bed where the testing procedure went into full swing.
From 11am Thursday to discharge on Friday I had a brain scan, ultrasound, tests by Dr Bass with his two resident doctors and vital signs taken every hour or so.
The very good meals and attention from the nursing staff was second to none.
Talk about a professional staff, they surely are at the Bega hospital.
If the new hospital attracts high-class people similar to the existing unit, we will be very well served.

PS The good news is the leg is back to normal.
Last man standing
Continuing record-breaking floods and droughts.
Global temperatures regularly breaking records.
Rising sea levels and melting ice caps.
It can't be too long before the Liberal Party luminaries are claiming they have been warning us all along and the only person left talking about United Nations conspiracies and evil scientists is our Neville.

Claims hysterical
We were told the world risks serious effects from climate change, there is 100 per cent certainty the Earth is warming, and there is a very high level of certainty it will continue unless we reduce man-made carbon dioxide pollution emissions (Minister Combet 13/4/11).
The “Clean Energy legislation” (carbon tax) passed in November 2011 is founded on this claim “the science is settled”.
The barrage of advice from the Federal Government and its advisers has been intense.
Councils, universities, schools et al were so influenced. This happened in other nations as well.
For example, Lucy Siegle has written should she stop going to gigs, because the scale of putting on gigs leaves huge carbon footprints.
The numbers being huge - 85,000 and 400,000 tonnes of equivalent CO2 emissions produced by two UK bands giving live music performances in the UK.
This must be of very serious concern to gig lovers.
However, time and improving ethical scientific measurement and assessment is indicating that the claims over increasing CO2 emissions were too hysterical.
* The Earth has not warmed since 1997 even though CO2 emissions have increased by almost a third to 390ppm.
* A new massive analysis of hundreds of peer-reviewed studies of “The State of the Earth’s Terrestrial Biosphere: How is it Responding to Rising Atmospheric CO2 and Warmer Temperatures” by Dr Craig Idso, refutes the extreme claims by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that global warming is stressing Earth’s natural and agro - ecosystems by reducing plant growth and development. Such claims being not justified when one examines the balance of evidence as reported in the peer-reviewed scientific literature”.
* It is finally being realised the IPCC does not carry out its own research, being obliged to look only at the effects of human activity in accordance with its charter, to the exclusion of natural influences - which may explain its previous frightening summaries for policy makers. Now, in its fifth report draft AR5 WG1 it soberly states “we have high confidence that natural variability dominates any AGW (man-made) influence in observed/historical TC records”.
