The women, with an average age of 70 years, are the 13 models in a unique fundraiser - the 'Ageless Beauty Calendar'.
The ‘Ageless Beauty Calendar' was launched in Bega on Thursday by the Minister for Juvenile Justice, Minister for Western Sydney and Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, Dianne Beamer, at the Bega Valley Regional Gallery.
Photographs from calendar were displayed in the gallery.
It had a second launch at Imlay House, coinciding with the NSW Seniors Week and the Victorian Seniors' Festival (March 13-20, 2005).
The calendar epitomises the message that ‘Age is a form of beauty".
It features a tasteful and artistic selection of photographs.
The models were body painted by local artist Robyn Cran to blend in with a bush environment.
The photographs were taken by local photographer, Angi High, in the rural setting of Bermagui, with backgrounds of rugged bushland and coastline.
Painted Lady for April and volunteer, Janice Gray, said, "I would not have missed this.
"It was challenging for all the models but we all felt a wonderful sense of achievement!
"The calendar celebrates the great beauty and vitality of older women."
The funds will support Imlay House, a high care residential aged care facility in the Bega Valley Shire.
Susan Wentworth, Imlay House Director of Nursing, said, "We are so grateful to all our volunteers who have embraced this challenge 100 per cent."
"We now issue the challenge to the community and private sector to bring us one step closer to meeting the needs of our frail aged citizens by buying this beautiful and artistic calendar."
Imlay House is a not-for-profit charity with 52 residents.
The facility is vital for the community with occupancy rarely less than 100 per cent and waiting list of over 50 people.
Recently, Imlay House received Federal Government approval for an additional 21 beds; however, the existing building must be extended to house the new beds.
The Ageless Beauty Calendar aims to make a significant contribution towards building the extension.
"Imlay House is widely recognised in the local community for providing high quality aged care.
"All of the staff go that extra mile with our residents to ensure their comfort and dignity," said Susan Wentworth.
"In an ageing community, such as Merimbula, the increasing cost of care and demand for beds must be addressed urgently for facilities such as Imlay House to remain viable."
So far the calendar has raised $4,680.
The sponsors of the calendar are as follows in their sponsored month order:
Excell Printing Pty Ltd, Bega Valley Shire Council, Airport Agencies, Merimbula Airport, Auswide Projects, R J O'Shea Management Pty Ltd, I T Financial Services, Robert Smith Complete Furnitures, Greater Southern Area Health Services, B M Foundation Pty Ltd, Kennedy and Cooke Solicitors, Regional Publishers Pty Ltd and Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club.
