The trophy was secured following TSLC members' achievements last Sunday at Narooma during the last carnival of the season.
With the final winning point score in the balance between Tathra and Moruya, both clubs were keen to take out the trophy.
However, with every TSLC member competing in every available event it was a total team effort, and it ended with the securing of the Jack Beal Trophy.
The overall final Far South Coast Branch club results are 1st Tathra, 2nd Narooma, 3rd Pambula, 4th Narooma, 5th Broulee, 6th Batemans Bay, 7th Bermagui.
The day began well for Tathra in the first event of the day the Open boat when the Tathra crew of Buff Britten, Grahame Evans, Alan Birchall, Grant Brewer and Tony Rettke finished with a strong third placing.
On the skis Tony McCabe and Warren Page placed third in the ski relay then teamed with Tony Rettke for another third in the double ski.
Stacey Rainbird in her first ever ski race teamed with Tony McCabe in the mixed double ski for another third, closely followed by Judy Rettke and Warren Page. This was just a warm up for Stacey who went on to place third with Alyce Kelso in the U/17 board rescue, second in the U/17 female board, Open female surf, and U/17 female surf and first in U/17 female iron person.
And as if that wasn't enough, she competed on the beach.
Younger sister Aimee also had a great day teaming up with Brad Lambie to get a second the U/15 board rescue, a third with Chris Dunning in the U/15 board relay and U/15 female board, a second in the U/15 female surf and first placings in the U/15 female sprint and U/15 female flags.
Club Captain Judy Rettke always leads by example and Sunday was no exception. She came second in the open female ski and Over 40 female ski, first in the Over 40 female board, in the process beating arch rival Julie Blacka (Bermagui), fourth in the Over 40 female surf, third in the Open female surf, first in the Over 40 sprints and flags and fourth in the Open female sprint.
It was a great day for the Rettke family with Person of the Carnival awarded to Cameron Rettke, not a bad effort after celebrating two 18th birthday parties the night before.
Cameron placed first in the Open and U/19 sprints and flags, was second with brother Kris in the U/19 double ski and U/19 board relay, third in the U/19 male ski and U/19 male board, second in the U/19 male surf and U/19 Ironman.
His dad Tony pulled off the double as well, winning both the Over 40 sprint and flags. Tony also went in every event possible from boats, team events and saving enough energy for the Ironperson.
Kris Rettke also put in a big effort before going back to uni, scoring five second places, three thirds, two fifths and a sixth.
Shayne Rettke kept the winning Rettke tradition going winning the U/15 Ironperson, board and flags and placing third U/15 surf and fourth in the U/15 sprint.
Alyce Kelso was another of Tathra's stars, coming second in the Open female board, third in the U/17 female board and first in both the Open and U/17 female sprints and flags.
Ryan and Chris Dunning let everyone know that they are still very competitive with Ryan getting first place in the Open board rescue with Cameron Rettke, first in the U/17 male surf, third U/17 flags, fourth in the U/17 sprint and board relay and fifth in the U/17 board, as well as numerous team events.
Chris also competed well teaming up with Shayne Rettke and smashing the opposition in the U/15 board rescue, placing first U/15 male surf, third with Aimee Rainbird U/15 board relay, and U/15 male flags and sprint and fourth U/15 board.
Tony McCabe did well with third placings in Open ski and Over 40 Iron man, fourth in Open surf, second Over 40 surf and first Open Ironman.
Brad Lambie, competing in his first senior carnival, came first in U/15 board relay with Shayne Rettke, a very close third in U/15 board, fourth U/15 surf and second in both flags and sprint.
The husband and wife team Alan Birchall and Lyn Tremblay were also seen sprinting up and down the track and diving for those flags.
Lyn also competed in her first ever surf swim, a great achievement and both helped out in all the beach team events.
Alan also accompanied first timer rower in the boats Brenton Roberts who also paddled boards and came second in the U/17 flags.
Tiani Hayes also did her bit to boost the Tathra point score coming third U/15 flags.
The team was greatly assisted by Daley's Tathra Bus Service and driver Andy Johnson who also went in a dozen events, placing third in the Open men's surf.
