The side built on their strong start to the competition with another dominant display.
Bega made the tough trip to Ack Weyman Oval to take on the Sharks but was never in doubt during the contest.
After the disappointment of last season, the 2008 grand finalists have responded in terrific style and supporters will be confident of a strong showing come finals time.
Bega’s preparation for the contest was not ideal with star recruit Aaron Lucas ruled out through injury and hooker Michael Edmonds failing to recover in time.
The loss of Edmonds has been covered superbly in the past fortnight with teenager Matt Barnden surprisingly stepping into the role.
Only wayward goal kicking prevented the Roosters from extending the winning margin with Bill Hudson and Barnden combining for just two goals from six attempts, just one week after barely missing a shot against Narooma.
The Roosters started the better by scoring a couple of quick tries and established a handy 12-0 lead at half-time.
The side was proving stronger across the ground with the forwards laying a foundation and the backline finding some holes in defence.
Bega’s forward pack was led by prop Kieran Pierce who has been one of the team’s best this season after moving from Gundagai.
Pierce was well supported by Bill Hudson while usual suspects Brendan Kidd, Jade Lucas, Kane Morgan and Dayne Burton made big metres up the middle.
The returning Anthony Beht took over from Barnden after being injected from the interchange and was outstanding in that position.
Beht’s creative running from dummy-half will be a valuable re-acquisition for the Roosters.
Five-eighth Grant Vine was a constant danger in attack, Craig Dunham was solid on the wing while Matt Blacka continues to relish his return to fullback.
The second stanza was similar to the first with Bega proving too strong and classy.
Hudson continued his strong game and bobbed up for his second try while Blacka also scored a double.
The Roosters scored four unconverted tries during the half while Moruya managed a late try for respectability.
Shoun Piper and Vine also scored a four-pointer each for the visitors.
With Cooma and Tathra engaging in a draw on Sunday, the Roosters hold outright first place on the ladder and are undefeated in 2010.
Bega has an excellent for and against record having scored 120 points and conceded just 48.
The Roosters will look forward to the competition’s general bye this weekend.
They will resume action in a fortnight’s time with a trip to Eden to take on the struggling Tigers.
