GOLFING MOMENT FOR THE WEEK
Golf can be a health hazard for some people. A former USA Open Champion once stated: ‘I have so many aches and pains that when I go outside my shadow refuses to come along’.
Bega RSL women
AT last we had a warm sunny Wednesday. Par was the name of the game.
Our numbers were down as it was Visitors Day at Eden and many of our golfers are friends with the Eden lady golfers.
Sue Parker played at home and gloried in the conditions with a +4. Sue was the overall winner.
Balls went to Sue, Barbara Ubrihien with +2 and Lyn Taylor +2. The CCR was -1.
Barbara reduced her handicap by three strokes - congratulations Barbara, it was well earned.
NTP on the 9th Narelle Harrison and Sue was only inches from the pin in the 18th.
The raffle donated by Bex Gabriele was won by Gay Ward.
Last Saturday with a CCR of 35 and playing a Stableford, Barbara Ubrihien was the most successful lady on the day with 34, the next best score was Chin Nantiwat 33, NTP went to Sue Parker.
Oncology day, which had to be postponed, will now be held on November 28, so make a Diary note.
On Tuesday we travelled to Tathra for the first round of the inter-club match.
Tathra with the home team advantage won the day, our chance for revenge comes soon.
Next Wednesday will be Visitors Day.
Robyn is looking to get lots of names at golf this Saturday, when we will be playing weekend Par No.6.
Anyone wishing to bring an extra raffle for Visitors Day is invited to do so, and don’t forget that we provide a scrumptious lunch after the game.
Today Robyn Kilkelly, Bev Rood and Sue Parker are off to Bombala for the 3BBB vs Par Play-off.
Janette Cox, who will be a referee, will accompany them. We wish them the very best of luck.
Finally a reminder that the AGM is Wednesday, October 10, nomination forms are available at the Clubhouse.
Tathra Tee Talk
WITH the greens being cored on Tuesday afternoon we were expecting some ordinary scores from the “Won’t Work/Don’t Work” competition on Thursday, but George Huggett putted through the chicken manure and the sand and came up with a fine 39 points.

Ball winners were George Huggett, Big Joe, Leo Schultz, Mike Tupper, Barry Giles, Bob Wallace on 2-way c/b.
Saturdays 4BBB Stableford Event was won by two of the best “shonkies” in the club, Norm Share and Captain Maples 47 points on a c/b from Pommie and Hewie.
NTP went to 3/12th Jack “Tiger” Batty, 5/14th Ed Barlow, 9/18th Macey Snr.
Ball comp winners were “Stormin Norman” and Captain Maples, Pommie and Hewie, Rabbit and Chris Collins-Hart, A Gant and F Pengelly, Dom and Funnell, Rock & Paul Da Silva, Trent Thatcher & Kean Lawler.
I overheard a golfer suggesting he might give lessons to golf club throwers so players could get the clubs going in the right direction and at the right angle so that the club was not damaged.
He could get a good size class if he advertises with all the Golf Clubs in the area.
Hit them long and straight! JAFFA.

Candelo
FOR the Flag event at Candelo golf last Sunday, the President brought the flag with him and he wasn’t about to let it go and he didn’t.
He finished up winning it, “never in doubt” he said.
As I was cutting my lawn I was thinking of how good I was going to play my next game of golf, I suddenly thought that there must be thousands of blokes like me,
mowing their lawns, thinking the same thoughts. Strange that, it must have something to do with lawn mowers.
We extend a welcome to all social clubs on weekdays, all day on Saturdays and to the Sunday morning’s sausage sizzle. Ring John 6493-2776.
A warm welcome to new members Kynan Douglas and Coman Rush.
I know what you are thinking but we do like to sign up normal type members - you don’t have to be an ambassador or politician.
So we are glad you have come to join us fellas and we hope to see a lot more of you.
Sundays Flag Event winner was David PM Barton; Runners-up Royce Umback, Chris Cox, John Barber; NTP 7th Kynan Douglas and in Match Play Singles Royce Umback defeated Tim Collins.

Roosters Pen
THE Bega Valley Motors sponsored Roosters back to back premiers romped around the Bega Valley for a few days after their gripping win in the Grand Final.
General consensus (among Bega fans anyway) was that it was one of the best Grand Finals seen in Group 16.
The defensive effort of the Roosters in the last 10 minutes was phenomenal.
The lads spent Sunday night back down at the Rec. where the mud splashing of Andy and Aaron had the ladies enthralled.
Monday saw brekky at the Bowlo followed by a bus trip to Candelo Hotel who really looked after the boisterous mob - Great tucker, great beer.
Highlights of the prolonged party were seeing Korny have to parade around in G-string and bra (he loved it), Ice doing 10-star jumps and crowing like a Rooster in a raid on the Bega Hotel, Lenny on one knee in Coles singing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” to Emma Pimm and, last but not least, Dicko’s eyebrows (or lack of).
Some of the boys have changed hair colour but not Peter Wheatley.
On Pete’s hair (he was first) they used a full bottle of dye.
It didn’t change colour so he shaved it off. Geez even his hair is tough.
First mention of presentation night. A function will be held at the Bega Bowlo on October 6 and all supporters and sponsors are welcome. More next week.
The Group 16 Presentation Night will also be at the Bega Bowling Club on October 13, tickets are $20.
The Bowling Club has a disco this Friday night and it will also be the Presentation Night of the Bowling Club’s Footy Tipping Competition.
Push the Mighty Roosters!
