8:57 AM AEST | GRAND final weekend has arrived for the Bega Netball Club and some fantastic games are lined up for tomorrow. Presentation night in-cluding dinner and disco will be held this Sunday at the Bega Showground Pavilion from 5-9pm.
02 Sep 10 | THE Bega Roosters are into the Group 16 grand finals in all three senior grades. Bega took on the Cooma Stallions on Sunday in first grade, reserves and U/18s at Cooma Showground, sealing victory in each match.
27 Aug 10 | Chooks’ tough test THE Bega Roosters are aiming to book a Group 16 first grade grand final spot when they travel to Cooma on Sunday. While the loser gets the chance to fight another day, the consequence is that a tough preliminary final against Eden looms, so both teams will be keen for victory. It has been a big season for the Roosters after missing the 2009 finals series.
24 Aug 10 | TATHRA’S Group 16 campaign is over after suffering a nail-biting 30-26 loss to Eden Tigers on Sunday. A try in the last minute to replacement Ian McBain sealed the come-from-behind victory for the home side. The match opened with the Tigers scoring in just the second minute through winger Darren Griffin which was converted by Todd Bolton.
20 Aug 10 | THE Tathra Sea Eagles’ season will be decided when they travel to Eden on Sunday for the Group 16 first grade minor semi-final. Victory will see them advance to the preliminary final while defeat signals the end for their 2010 campaign. It has been a mixed season for the Eagles who finished the regular rounds in fourth position with five wins, four losses and a draw.
13 Aug 10 | LYNNE Teale describes herself as a “non-shooter”, yet she is arguably the most important figure in the local area’s shooting cricles. “I have very limited ability on the tracks, so I only shoot enough times each year to retain my firearms license,” Lynne said.
10 Aug 10 | THE Bega Roosters had a big win over Moruya in Group 16 on Sunday but took no great pleasure from their victory. Moruya was severely undermanned and with nine players backing up after being beaten 62-8 in reserve grade, it was always going to be a big task for them.
06 Aug 10 | JIMMY Griffin has continued to perform well on the Motocross circuit. After making his debut at state competition last year, Jimmy has taken his performances to the next level. The 11-year-old achieved his best result recently when he finished runner-up in the NSW State 65cc Four Strokes Titles.
03 Aug 10 | RYAN “Reggie” O’Loghlin’s superb second quarter performance on Saturday summed up Tathra’s dominance over Merimbula Diggers. The key forward booted seven goals for the term, 10 for the match, to set the Eagles on their road to victory. Tathra proved far too strong for their struggling opponents, running away winners 36.23.239 to 2.0.12.
30 Jul 10 | TATHRA’S Adam Elliott enhanced his reputation as a future rugby league star recently. Adam represented Country Rugby League’s (CRL) NSW U/16s team which proved too strong for Queensland, winning 26-18. Adam was in the unfamiliar position of five-eighth but had a hand in a couple of tries as he finished off with the Man of the Match award.
20 Jul 10 | BEGA Squash Club member Troy Northey has taken his game to the next level in 2010. Northey has been in stellar form in both club and representative competitions and has been rewarded for his consistent performances. He was recently crowned State 35-40yrs Open Men’s champion and has now been selected to play in the NSW Masters team in the Australian Champion-ships in Hobart in September.
16 Jul 10 | THE Cobargo Eels Rugby League Club and Bermagui-Cobargo Sharks Rugby Union Club are putting on a triple treat for footy fans tomorrow in Cobargo. The day will begin at noon when the Cobargo Eels U/18s take on the Bega Roosters.
09 Jul 10 | FAMILY loyalties were split when local cousins Dale and Michael Finucane faced-off for their respective Toyota Cup teams last Saturday night at Bluetongue Stadium. The round 17 national U/20s contest saw Dale’s Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs taking on Cronulla Sharks which included Michael.
06 Jul 10 | TATHRA Sea Eagles Rugby League Football Club’s (RFLC) Trent Smith has been rewarded for his off field commitments. Smith was recent awarded a player’s grant through the AAMI/Country Rugby League (CRL) Player of the Week program, becoming only the fourth recipient from across Australia in 2010.
02 Jul 10 | THE Tathra Surf Lifesaving Club (TSLC) was rewarded for their successful 2009/10 season at the Far South Coast Branch presentations at Moruya recently. The branch covers all clubs between Batemans Bay and Pambula with Tathra scoring nine awards, including three for Sharon George.
25 Jun 10 | TATHRA teenager Adam Elliott has continued to build on his rugby league reputation.
