Fortunately, while council workers have been kept busy clearing debris off the roads, damage has been relatively minimal and there have been no reports of injuries.
The main problems across the Shire came from power outages, which have now been dealt with by Essential Energy.
Essential Energy crews from the South East were kept busy on Monday dealing with a number of call-outs and supply interruptions caused by severe weather conditions.
Regional general manager South Eastern, Phillip Green, said the wild weather and difficult conditions have made it tough for crews to repair some of the damage.
“Crews from right across the region were dispatched to deal with issues that ranged from trees across powerlines, broken wires, damaged poles and faults on the grid.”
Penny Cox, manager community relations, South Eastern region, said that about 400 residences in the Bega Valley were without power for the day and these were isolated cases right throughout the shire.
Only three properties at Quaama were without power on Monday night.
An SES spokeperson said most of the Bega Valley was spared the worst of the storms and gale force winds.
The SES was called to attend two properties in Bermagui with their roofs down and also in Bermagui they had to cut down a large tree threatening a property.
Weather conditions are expected to improve over the weekend.
