Roger Rogerson to visit Bega

30 Oct, 2009 10:23 AM
FORMER NSW Detective Roger Rogerson will be appearing at the Bega RSL on Saturday, October 31 starting at 8pm.

Rogerson joined the NSW Police Force in 1958, aged 17, where he was promoted quickly through the ranks being known as the ‘Boy Sergeant’.

Rogerson was one of New South Wales most decorated police officers, having received at least 13 awards for bravery, outstanding policemanship and devotion to duty including the Peter Mitchell Trophy, the highest annual police award.

Rogerson worked on some of the biggest cases of the early 1970s, including the Toecutter Gang Murder and the Whiskey Au Go Go Fire in Brisbane.

After his police career Rogerson embarked on an entertainment career and has appeared in many with numerous colourful identities.

In 2008 Rogerson reviewed episodes of the Underbelly series and Melbourne’s underworld war on The Daily Telegraph’s online blog. Rogerson has also blogged about the 2009 series of the Underbelly for the Daily Telegraph. He recently released an autobiography about his time as a detective titled, Roger Rogerson; The Dark Side, which was launched at the Iron Duke Hotel by Alan Jones. The first edition of the book has already sold out and a second edition is being printed.

Audiences will be engrossed with tales of Rogerson’s exploits in the heady days when NSW Police was a tough outfit (fortunately not always doing things by the book). Rogerson will be telling real life stories of what went on in those days.

Tickets for the show are available at the RSL Club.

They are sure to sell fast so call Bega RSL Club on 6492 1055 now to book.
