FOUR candidates have nominated to contest the Bega Valley Shire Council by-election: Jeff Knight of Towamba, Phil McManus and Russell Fitzpatrick of Merimbula, and Graham Carmody of Bermagui.
Nominations for the by-election to be held next month closed at noon on Wednesday.
Electors may view each candidate’s information sheet at www.elections. nsw.gov.au or at the office of the Returning Officer.
Electoral Commissioner Colin Barry reminded voters of early voting options.
“If you cannot get to a polling place on election day you can still make your vote count by casting a pre-poll or postal vote,” he said.
Postal vote applications will be accepted up to 5pm on Monday, November 30.
Pre-poll voting is available Monday to Friday, from Monday, November 23 and will close at 6pm on Friday, December 4, at the Returning Office, Bega Valley Shire Council, Zingel Place Bega.
Pre-poll voting will also be available from Wednesday, December 2 to 6pm Friday December 4 at Merimbula Library, Main Street Merimbula.
Election Day is Saturday,
December 5.
Voting is compulsory for all residents on the electoral roll.
