Bega Business Awards nominees

"There were hundreds of nominations for more than 200 individuals and about 150 businesses," chamber president Mr Robert Hayson said this week.

"This is far more than we have received in previous years which is an indication of just how popular these awards have become.

"We already have people wanting to book tables for the awards dinner regardless of whether they are on the finalists' list.

"However, we don't open the booking until the finalists are named so that they all have a chance to be there on the night."

Mr Hayson said the awards judges had been taking note of businesses and individuals throughout the year but would be out and about again over the next three weeks selecting the finalists.

"They will be looking at superior service, helpfulness, signage, decor and general presentation so nominees should take particular note of these things in the coming weeks," Mr Hayson said.

"The 'clock' awards have become much sought-after trophies in the Bega business community reflecting as they do how customer service has improved in recent years.

"However, all the nominees can be very proud of themselves and their staff for the efforts they have made to be the best at what they do."

The finalists will be named towards the end of September and the awards presented at a gala dinner in the Bega RSL Club on Saturday, October 23.
