A mother’s tribute

Karen Bell wrote this tribute to her children

Jack was eight-years-old, born December 11, 1999 and he was a loving caring son whom everybody loved.

He loved staying up late and watching the NRL and his favourite player was Billy Slater who played for Melbourne Storm.

All the girls loved him and his best friend from pre-school he said he was going to marry and have children with her.

When I’d asked him what she thought about having children, he’d replied “I don’t know”.

Jack was very smart and after deciding to take the kids out of Towamba School and do distance education he excelled and worked so hard at his schooling.

Everyone who knew Jack loved him and he will be greatly missed by all.

Maddie was seven-years-old, born May 3, 2001 and she wanted to be a model when she grew up.

She was always getting dressed up in my good clothes and high heels and practiced walking down the catwalk and stopping to pose.

Every now and then we would see her girlfriends from the school and they would surround her yelling Maddie, Maddie, Maddie.

It made her feel so special and proud like she had a fan club.

Maddie was very, very smart and she loved a challenge.

When she was at Towamba School she was always correcting her teacher’s spelling.

With her schooling at home all the words she was given she already knew, so I had to give her more challenging words.

The last word she was excited about spelling was bamboozle.

She was so beautiful and loving and her favourite singers were The Veronicas, Annastasia and Avril Lavinge.

Bon was almost 16-months-old, born on March 5, 2007.

He was a beautiful little boy and would wake up six times in the night just for a cuddle with his mum, and was happy to be in the middle of the bed being close.

Bon loved his big brother and his big sister and always wanted to help them with their schoolwork by trying to draw on their work or ripping their books.

He wasn’t content to draw on his own paper but needed to do what they were doing.

He loved anything to do with engines, chainsaws, cars, trucks, water pumps and lawnmowers, and only a few weeks ago he got his first Hot Wheels car and then Jack gave him all his old cars that he didn’t want anymore.

He followed you around the house and if I was doing the washing up he would come along and get between me and the cupboard and push me so I would pick him up.

He loved being outdoors and was content to be outside at anytime.
