Gingerbread houses
About 60 women and a few brave men made gingerbread houses on Monday evening at Bega Baptist Church.
The hall was full of fun and laughter as everyone built houses made of ginger bread for Christmas and smothered them in lollies.
Ros Raward compered the evening and Debbie Lausch demonstrated how to build the houses.
Wendy Jamieson from Batemans Bay came to share a few thoughts on what Christmas means to her.
The delicious gingerbread was made by the award winning Jordan’s Cake shop in Riverstone, near Sydney.
Some people built houses to give as presents, others built a house to decorate their Christmas dinner table, while many built a house just to enjoy eating it.
Everyone who attended was very creative and they made some mouth watering creations.
One of the women who attended said the evening was the highlight of her year.
Organiser of the workshop, Margy Gilchrist, said the gingerbread house evening was very popular.
“Unfortunately we only had enough gingerbread to make 50 houses and all our tickets were sold out by Friday last week.
“The evening was so popular we hope to run it again next Christmas,” shey said.
Fundraiser
The Thomas More Christian Montessori School fundraising committee ended its fundraising efforts for 2007 with a successful street stall and end of year raffle.
The street stall, held at the Church Street kiosk last week, raised more than $300 and all plants and baked goods were sold.
Raffle tickets were also sold at the stall, to shop proprietors and in the street.
Many parents of children at the school assisted in either providing plants, baked items or selling of tickets.
Prizes for the raffle, drawn at the school Christmas concert on Wednesday night, were a handmade quilt donated by Elaine Crisp, a decorated gingerbread house donated by the Christison family and a $20 gift voucher from Target.
The fundraising committee thanks the public for its support of both the street stall and raffle.

Quest for Fin
A special talent quest was held at Cobargo School of Arts hall last Saturday to raise funds for the family of a local girl called Fin who has cancer.
The event was called "Fin's Quest for Talent" and was held in two parts - one that started at 4pm and went to 7pm which was for children aged to 12 years and the evening session for older young people.
It was organised by James and Belinda Peel who said they did it because Fin’s parents, Jen and Nick, were friends and they wanted to help out.
Performances included singing, piano playing and comedy acts and there were raffles and other fun activities throughout the show.
