Maria McMahon of Merimbula turned 101 on June 7. Maria is in great health and continues to pass on her wisdom on the generations below. She says the key her longevity is love, faith, simplicity and a great appetite. Cobargo market
Cobargo Market will be held tomorrow (Saturday) from 8.30am to 12.30pm at the School of Arts Hall and grounds, Bermagui Road, Cobargo.
There will be lots of market stalls including craft, plants, handknits, patchwork, honey, jams, jewellery and pre-loved goods.
The Cobargo Monthly Market is held rain, hail or shine on the fourth Saturday of every month.

Bermagui market
The Bermagui Market is on this Sunday, June 25, in Dickinson Park, Bermagui.
This is a Homemade, Handmade Market.
All stallholders must have their own insurance.
The markets are non-profit organisation and are co-ordinated by the Bermagui Red Cross.

Can Assist
Bega's Can Assist president Ann Hetherington and treasurer Irene Hetherington were invited to a Bega Lions Club dinner recently.
Ann spoke about Can Assist and what it has achieved in the Bega community so far and accented a donation of $500 from the Lions.
At Can Assist's last monthly meeting Roberta Raynor, a social worker from the oncology unit at Bega District Hospital, was guest speaker.
She gave an insight into the lives of cancer patients and their difficult journey, relaying how important Can Assist is to them.
Through fund raising efforts, the organisation is now helping nine local patients.
The winter raffle will be drawn next Friday, June 30, and tickets are selling well.
Arrangements are well underway for October's spring fashion parade featuring clothing from 2Sassy and Illusion Boutiques.
This promises to be a big night with many prizes, great fashion and light entertainment.
The catering at the Tarraganda auction was a great success and members thank the Tarraganda Progress Association for all their assistance.
Members are reminded of a luncheon on Friday, June 30, at 1pm at Pepperberry.
There will also be a Nutrimetics Lipstick Drive where for every lipstick sold one dollar goes to Can Assist.

After receiving rave reviews for the Bega Can Assist uniform at a recent Can Assist conference, members have decided to make them available for sale.

Rock and roll
The Merimbula Rock and Roll Club will be at the Bega RSL Club on July 7 from 7pm to 10.30pm.
Go along and learn to dance or just enjoy the music.

Debutante ball
The St Patrick's Debutante Ball will be held at the Bega RSL Club tonight (Friday) from7.30pm.
The debutantes and their partners will be presented at 8pm to the Timor Leste Ambassador, Mr Hernani Coelho da Silva.
Tickets cost $20 each and guests should take their own basket supper.
This is always a great night of entertainment and the proceeds will go to the St Francis' School in Natarbora, Timor Leste.
Sole Food
Sole Food's next dinner will have a change of venue.
It will now be held at Donna's Cantina tonight (Friday) at 7pm.

Hospital auxiliary
The Bega District Hospital Auxiliary annual general meeting will be held on Friday, July 21, in the supper room of the Town Hall.
The monthly meeting will commence at 1.30pm with the AGM to follow at 2.30pm.
Members are reminded to take a plate for afternoon tea.
This will be a farewell meeting for Bobbie and a good attendance would be appreciated.
The maternity ward staff have requested several items of equipment that the auxiliary has agreed to purchase.
Preliminary arrangements for catering for the Championship Golf Day on Saturday, August 5, and the charity golf day on Sunday, September 17, were discussed with final details next meeting.
Members have been invited to Pambula auxiliary's AGM and Christmas in July on July 26 at the Merimbula Bowling Club.
Anyone wishing to attend the luncheon and fashion parade should contact Helen.
The auxiliary is rostered for Meals on wheels this week.
Torch Bearers
Tathra Torch Bearers for Legacy held their AGM recently and the following office bearers were elected.
The patron is Mrs M Turnbull, president Mrs J Darling, vice president Mrs M Hill and Mrs N Bown, secretary Mrs J Butler, treasurer Mrs L Holdsworth.
The Meals on Wheels co-ordinator is Mrs J Darling.
Legatee R Gordon was present to receive the branch's annual donation.
The next friendship luncheon will be held in the Tathra Beach Bowling Club on Wednesday, July 5, at noon.
A craft day is being planned for later in the year.
Graduation
Proud parents Sid and Sharon Bastian, along with equally proud Aunty Margaret Campbell and Uncle Jeff Caragher, travelled to Wagga Wagga last Friday for the passing out parade of Tammie Bastian.
Tammie has joined the Australian Army and is now a private in the Ordnance Division.
To top off a fabulous weekend Tammie's sister Amanda (Moo), who is also in the Army, travelled down from Sydney.
Arts and Craft Society
Members of the Bega Valley Arts and Craft Society gathered at Grevillia Winery's Bales restaurant recently for their mid-year luncheon.
Guest speakers were long-term members Alison and Keith Otton and current president Linda Deighton.
The society is celebrating being "60 Years Strong" this year and each speaker related aspects of its hardworking committee and the dedication of its membership over the years.
Parents Without Partners
Parents Without Partners in the ACT will hold new member nights next month.
The South Side Branch will hold meetings on Wednesdays July 5, 12, 19 and 26.
The Northside Branch meetings will be on Thursday July 6, 13, 20 and 27.
Parents without Partners is a self help, non-profit welfare organization, devoted to readjustment of single parents and their children.

Men's breakfast
St John's ecumenical men's breakfast will be held at St John's Anglican parish hall tomorrow (Saturday) from 8am.
The cost is $7 for a full breakfast and the speaker will be Ian Dickson from the Bega Fire Brigade who will talk about smoke alarms.
